Il-Gzira Local Council
The il-Gzira Local Council as a Local Government has been set-up since 1994 and is regulated by the Local Council’s Act XV of 1993. Up till now, there have been seven legislations.
The Local Council implemented Bye Laws and organizes specific courses for the residents by promoting further education. The Council together with the Sub-Committees, promote social events and help non profitable organizations.
The Central Government’s aim, via the decentralization process, is to have each Local Council turned into a one-stop shop whereby residents, even through the E-Government System can forward their requirements at the Council’s Administrative Office.

Office of The Mayor
The seventh legislation is chaired by Mr. Conrad Borg Manché who was elected Mayor in April 2015, Deputy Mayor is Mr. Ralph Mangion, Minority Leader Mr. Wayne Hewitt and Councilors Ms. Graziella Schembri, Mr. Neville Chetcuti, Mr. Joseph Galea and Mr. Jeremy Cardona.
